Nail Extensions in Vienna: Acrylic vs. Gel-X vs. Dip Powder

Acrylic gives the strongest structure and the boldest designs at €60–€90, lasting three to four weeks. Gel-X — soft gel extensions — gives a natural look with zero filing damage at €55–€80. Dip Powder, also sold as SNS, gives a durable, lightweight finish at €50–€75.
The short rule: acrylic for durability, Gel-X for nail health, Dip Powder for low-maintenance shine.
The short version
- Acrylic: €60–€90, 3–4 weeks, the strongest structure.
- Gel-X: €55–€80, natural look, no filing damage — the choice for weak nails.
- Dip Powder (SNS): €50–€75, lightweight and durable.
- If your natural nails are thin, the filing question decides it for you.
- All three need proper removal — that is where damage actually happens.
Which nail extension method is best for your Vienna lifestyle?
Long nails are having a moment in Vienna, and the three methods you will be offered differ on one thing more than any other: what they require from the natural nail underneath.
Price is the least interesting variable here. The three sit within €40 of each other, and the decision that actually matters is whether your nails can afford the preparation.
Acrylic: the strongest structure
- Price: €60 to €90.
- Wear: Three to four weeks.
- Best for: Durability, significant length and bold designs.
- Requires: More preparation of the natural nail than the other two.

Request an appointmentGel-X: the one that does not file your nails down
- Price: €55 to €80.
- Best for: Weak or recovering natural nails.
- Look: Natural, less obviously an extension.
- Trade-off: Less suited to extreme length or heavy structural artwork.

Dip Powder (SNS): light, durable, low fuss
Dip Powder — you will see it sold as SNS — sits between the two on almost every axis. It produces a durable finish that is noticeably lighter on the hand than acrylic, and it holds a shine with very little upkeep.
That combination is why it suits an active life. If your hands are busy and you would rather not think about your nails between appointments, this is the method that asks the least of you.
At €50 to €75 it is also the cheapest of the three, though not by enough for price to be the reason you pick it.

The question that actually decides it
Ask yourself one thing: what condition are your natural nails in right now? If they are healthy, all three are open and you can choose on look and length. If they are thin, peeling, or coming out of a long stretch of enhancements, the filing requirement narrows it to Gel-X.
The second thing worth knowing is that with all three, most damage comes from removal rather than application. A set picked off at home takes the nail surface with it regardless of which method put it there. Book the removal properly — our price list shows it as its own line, because it is its own work.
If you want the consultation before committing, SONAILpro will look at your nails and tell you which of the three they can actually carry — at your table, before anything is applied.
The bottom line
Acrylic for durability, Gel-X for nail health, Dip Powder for low-maintenance shine — that is the decision in one line. The €40 spread between them is small enough that it should not drive the choice. What should is the state of your natural nails and how much length you actually want to carry.
The three extension methods compared
Typical Vienna ranges. Length and design complexity move all three upward.
Nail extensions in Vienna: common questions
Gel-X. It is applied as a soft gel full tip with zero filing damage, so nothing has to be buffed away for it to bond. That makes it the method to choose if your natural nails are thin, peeling or recovering from a long stretch of enhancements.
